Pakistan limited-overs skipper Babar Azam has expressed high hopes of emulating his Indian counterpart’s living legend Virat Kohli.
But Babar himself admitted that still he has a long way to equalise him with the veteran Indian skipper.
Babar’s top form and his almost similar cover drive style always put him in comparison with Virat Kohli, who considered the top-rated successor to supersede the record of his compatriot legend Sachin Tendulkar.

Babar has fascinating averages above 45 in Checks and over 50 in both ODIs and Twenty20 Internationals, the statistic that put him in the top five of all three formats. But the 25-year-old batsman doesn’t want to compare himself with Kohli as he believes that he still has a long way to go.
“He’s one of the best players. I’m still behind him (Virat Kohli),” said Babar Azam, who played 26 Tests along with 74 ODIs and 38 T20Is after being burst into the international arena in 2015.
“I’ll try to be as good as him and win matches for my country.” Babar, who is Pakistan’s limited-overs captain, said there were some style similarities,” Babar told Cricbuzz.
“Asian batsmen have the same technique and stroke-play. I guess some of our shots look similar,” he added.
The 25-year-old also said that he closely follows the careers of the top batsmen and try to watch how they master tough and challenging conditions and overcoming the odds.
“I don’t look to compare myself with the greats. When I’m playing, I’m not trying to show off or prove any point to anyone. For me, it’s about whether I’m satisfied with my performance,” the right-handed batsman said.
“I’m happy as long as I can help Pakistan win matches. I’m rarely satisfied with my performance because I always see room for improvement,” he concluded.
