Bangladesh head coach Russell Domingo said on Monday that he is expecting skipper Mominul Haque to take the role of Mushfiqur Rahim in the middle during the Test match against Pakistan.

Bangladesh will travel to Pakistan on Tuesday evening to take part in the opening game of the two-match Test series, scheduled at Rawalpindi from February7.

Bangladesh will return back and play home series against Zimbabwe while they will travel to Pakistan for the last segment of the tour that includes an ODI and the last Test in April.

Mushfiqur opted out of the Pakistan tour due to security reason and according to the South African it is up to Mominul Haque to take up the challenge.

"At the moment Mominul is earmarked to bat at No 4. I will probably get Shanto to bat at No 3, and Saif Hassan to open the batting with Tamim Iqbal. Mithun and Riyad at No 5 and 6, and Liton [Das] probably at No 7,’’ he said adding that he is looking forward to make an impression outside Bangladesh.

“We have to win Tests, and outside of Bangladesh. If we are realistic, the chance of winning the World Test Championship is not good. We are ranked No 10 in Tests. But we really want to win a series outside Bangladesh. If we want to do that, the team will gain so much confidence. We want to play good cricket away from Bangladesh,’’ he said.

‘’The wickets that they are playing here don’t have much pace and bounce. I am sure Rawalpindi might have some pace and bounce. It is going to be a big challenge for the boys. Some of them have been doing well with Neil McKenzie, who has worked with some technical things with the Test boys. Of course, some of the boys know that they have to put in some big performances on the back of a poor Test series against India. We have to show a bit more commitment with the bat, and find ways to manufacture scores even when the conditions are not good,’’ he concluded.
