Bangladesh Soumya Sarkar said on Wednesday that he is enjoying to fill the all-rounder spot in the shortest format of the game.

Bangladesh think-tank is in opinion to bring out the all-rounder in Soumya due to the fact he had the ability to bowl slow medium pace along with his batting down the order, despite the fact he had started his career as a top-order batsman.

Bangladesh team management decision on turning him as an all-rounder reflects through the fact that he had bowled in four out of last five ODI’s while bowled in three T20 out of the last five matches that he played.

And very recently the decision makers in the Bangladesh dressing-room experimented with the 26-year-old putting him at late middle order in the two T20Is played against hosts Pakistan.

It the first game the left-handed batsman scored seven facing five deliveries and in the second added an unbeaten five runs to the board in as many deliveries.

The current Bangladesh management’s plan to make Soumya bat down the order was driven from their search for a hard hitter at the end part of the innings in T20I.

“[Playing as an all-rounder is] Better for me I think as it will have to deal with two jobs. That way you can be happy if you get to perform at least in one department. But with only the batting role, my room to perform becomes less and not performing in that makes you have a bad day,” Soumya tried to explain to the reporters at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium yesterday.

When quarried of his work-in-progress as a late middle-order batsman, Soumya informed, “I did not get a long time to think about it. The team thought of the best, so I do not have much opinion here.”
