Cumilla Warriors Sri Lankan opener Bhanuka Rajapaksa said that the top-three batsmen need to stay till the end if they want to go far in the ongoing Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League.
Cumilla saw the other side of the coin in the second match, having won the first game against Rangpur Ringers by 105 runs as Dhaka Platoon handed them a 20-run defeat to earn their first win in the tournament.
Perera struck 17 ball-42 not out before taking 5-30 with bowling to single-handedly crush Cumilla, who eyed their second successive victory.
Tamim’s 53 ball-74 meanwhile brought relief for the Bangladesh team management as the opener was going through a prolonged bad patch with willow.
Thanks to Tamim’s well-composed knock that was studded by six fours and four sixes and Perera’s ultra-aggressive innings, Dhaka racked up 180-7, so far the season’s highest’ recovering from a shaky start.

Cumilla needed some solidity from the top but as they failed to have one they eventually ended up losing the game by 20 runs.
‘’Everyone has got good days and bad days. I would say it is not the worst day we faced in the field but we lack containing the opposition to a lesser score,’’ Rajapaksa told reporters at the post match press conference.
‘’We missed the match by 15 to 20 runs as we gave away too many runs in the middle overs and that is the part when we lost the match,’’ he said adding that top three need to deliver.
‘’I think that we need to concentrate on every got good start with nice strike rate,’’ he said.
‘’I think form the top 3 or 4 one need to bats till 15 over at least,’’ he said.
‘’Whoever gets set must bat till the 15 over and get 70 to 80 runs,’’ he said.
Rajapaksa said that they are regretting for failing to grab the chances that were offered by Tamim as he literally took the game away from them with his class act.
‘’Definitely, you see Tamim is a class act and he is playing for Bangladesh for a long time.
‘’Dropping a couple of catches especially batsman like Tamim Iqbal it is going to cost you in the end,’’ he said.
