Indian fast bowlers beat Bangladeshi batsmen with their pace in their first innings, said selector Habibul Bashar on Friday.
Indian seamers ran havoc against their Bangladeshi counterpart as they were bundled out for 106 runs in their first innings when the two sides met in the historic Test match.
There was lot of speculation regarding the behavior of the pink ball as a member of both sides were playing pink-ball cricket for the first time.
However, apart from following the basic and bowling with a considerable amount of pace, there was nothing much that the Indian seam bowlers did and it was enough to ran over their batting unit.
Bangladesh found themselves in deep trouble as they lost four early wickets within the first hour of the opening day of their first-ever day-night Test against India
Indian pacer Umesh Yadav claimed two wickets while Ishant Sharma and Mohammed Shami took one wicket each as they reduced the visitors to 26-4 in the 11.5 overs over after Mominul Haque opted to bat first.
Opener Imrul Kayes was the first man to be dismissed as Ishant trapped him in front after making four runs in the seventh over of their innings.
Imrul, who survived a caught behind review call of Ishant in the same over, was dismissed just two balls later.
Umesh then dismissed Mominul Haque (0) and Mohammad Mithun (0) in between three deliveries before Shami joined in the act by uprooting the stumps of Mushfiqur Rahim (0).
‘’I think they are beaten by the pace. I think our batsmen movement was quite slow against raw pace in this kind of wicket,’’ selector Habibul Bashar told reporters at Eden on Monday.
‘’You can see the way our four batsmen got out. It simply showed that they just could not react as per requirements. It is an area of concern,’’ he said.
‘’Surely it is a technical thing and we need to work out this aspect of the game,’’ he said.
‘’I don’t think pink ball is a major concern and what I personally feel is that batsmen should not have big problems seeing the ball.
Habibul said that he does not buy the idea that first was the problem as he feels if there is a technical problem it will be exposed everywhere.

‘’Batting first is not a problem because if you are unable to bat than that would be the case with the second innings also,’’ said Habibul.
‘’I think they are lacking confidence and probably that is the reason they are making similar mistakes,’’ he said.
The only batsman who looked to be at ease against was Liton Kumar Das but unfortunately, he could not stay long as he was returned hurt ball bangs in to his helmet as he wanted to pull a delivery of Shami.
Bangladesh opted to have a concussion substitute in Mehedy Hassan as they were in a bizarre situation because there is no specialist batsman in the squad.
Amid huge enthusiasm and fanfare, the maiden day-night Test between Bangladesh and India rolled onto the ground for those two countries, which had reservations to play pink-ball Test earlier.
Bangladesh captain Mominul Haque won the toss and with a huge smile on his face, he opted to bat first. And the value of winning the toss was later expressed by India captain Virat Kohli also, who said he would love to bat first.
