Bangladesh pace bowler Shafiul Islam said on Friday that the fast bowling unit need to put up a unified effort in the do-or-die game against India, scheduled at Nagpur on November 10.

While Bangladesh won the opening the host leveled the series that turned the third game as the series decider with the visitors eyeing their maiden series win over the Asian counterparts.

Tigers pace unit played a crucial part in the opening game that included removing Rohit Sharma early but as they failed to repeat a similar feat in the second game Indian skipper took the game away from them in the blink of the eye with his stroke-filled 85 runs.

‘’Actually this wicket was so good for batting. It was flat wicket. Rohit batted wonderfully. He had a good yesterday.  He could do everything he tried. We also made some small mistakes. The mistakes weren’t there in the first match. We are working on not to repeat the mistakes,’’ said Shafiul, who removed Rohit in the opening game early in the innings.

‘’The three pace bowlers that we are in, we usually bowl in the main overs, on the power play or in the last four or five overs. If the pace bowlers can do well, what we could do in the first match, if we get a good start, finish well, if we can stop them then there will be advantages for the batsmen. There will be a chance to win,’’ he said adding that though he did not feel helpless there was nothing much he can do about it while added that they should not be mentally shattered with the way they were treated by Rohit in the second Twenty20.

‘’Helpless in cricket[ I don’t know] I tried to resist. I believed in my ability. It was not a helpless thing. How to hold him back was my goal. I tried. Everyone has tried it that way. He actually played good cricket,’’ he said.

‘’Rohit Sharma had a good day. When a player has a good day, we should not become weak with mentally. It is possible for anyone to lose any team that day. We are all strong, there is still a chance. We will turn around very well,’’ he said.

‘’We made small mistakes in all departments, batting bowling. We will work on it. If we can overcome the mistakes then we can do something good,’’ he concluded.
