India leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal said the ‘men in blue’ didn’t give up the hopes to bounce back in the series despite putting up ordinary performance in the first T20 that caused their seven-wicket defeat to Bangladesh.
He also credited Bangladesh for playing better than them in the first game but said they are careful not to do the mistakes of the first game.
“First of all we should appreciate Bangladesh. They played very well (at Delhi). We know we are (supposed to be) a better team but if you see last few matches, Bangladesh has put up a proper fight,” Chahal said on Tuesday after India’s practice session.

“Mushfiqur Rahim calculated the target very well. But it is not about pressure; it is a three-match series. We are one down with two more matches to go and we believe in ourselves to bounce back.”
“We are positive. It is not the case that we have never lost in the first game of a series previously and have not gone on to win the series. We have forgotten that and we all are positive. If you dwell too much on the last game then a lot of negative things will come out. But we are ready for a fresh start.”
He said that there is no pressure on Indian team following the defeat as they tasted some harsh criticism from the fans and former players.
“There is no pressure. It is a bilateral, three-match series and not a knockout competition. Obviously one team wins and the other loses. They played well that day,” Chahal remarked.
Chahal heaped praise on Bangladesh young brigades, especially on leg-spinner Aminul Islam Biplob, saying that they made the team stronger even without the service of Shakib Al Hasan and Tamim Iqbal.
“Bangladesh are a very decent team even in their (Shakib and Tamim) absence. All of them are experienced, even their new leg-spinner (Aminul Islam) bowled well. We are not seeing Bangladesh as a weak team just because Shakib and Tamim are not there. They are a good team and are giving us a good fight,” he said.
“He (Aminul) obviously has done in Bangladesh’s First-Class cricket which is why he is here. He bowled very well in his three overs for two wickets for 20 odd runs.”
