Bangladesh twenty -20 skipper Mahmudullah said on Wednesday that they will miss the service of Shakib al Hasan in the upcoming tour of India, being banned by the International Cricket Council for failure to report corrupt approaches.
The country’s cricket fraternity got one of the biggest shock of their life after their major star was guilty of breaching ICC code of conduct and that too just ahead of the upcoming series against India.
Bangladesh team left for India on Wednesday for the upcoming tour consisting two Test series and three Twenty20 internationals and it looked that the players are yet to get over from the shock.
‘’Of course I think he is a major part of Bangladesh cricket. There’s no doubt about it. I think everyone is feeling sorry for him,’’ skipper Mahmudullah told reporters at the Airport on Wednesday.
‘’We know how important he is for our team. Maybe he did something wrong but not anything illegal. Our support is with him. We will continue loving him like we did before,’’ he said.
Shakib shared a memorable partnership with Mushfiqur Rahim and according to him that will be missed but he insisted that youngster should grab this opputunity.
‘’I am playing with Shakib for many years now. Definitely we will miss him and without him it will be tough,’’ said Mushfiqur.

If Shakib was injured instead of being suspended or even if I go out of the team for a year, it will be a huge opportunity for the young cricketers,’’ he said.
‘’If we play at their home, there will be challenges. And if there is challenge them there will be platforms to play well,’’ he said.
‘’I want everyone should pray for us to perform well and hope that when he returns he can comeback even stronger.
Shakib received some huge criticism for promoting Mossadek Hossain top in the batting order in their last Test that they lost to Afghanistan.
The all-rounder is known to be very liked by Shakib of late and he insisted that he will miss his backing in the dressing room.
‘’Of course, his absence will be a big loss for us. I think this series going to a big challenge for us [as it will be played without Shakib,’’ he said.
Left-arm spinner Arafat Sunny is expected to lead the spin bowling department in the absence of Shakib but the seasoned domestic campaigner believe that his presence could have been more effective as he is well aware the condition considering his experience in the Indian Premier League.
“There’s no doubt that Shakib has put himself in top position as best all-rounder. I feel that, If he was there, it would help us in bowling. He has played in India a lot of time in IPL. He has good knowledge of the wickets there. He would especially help me more. I will definitely miss him,’’ said Arafat.
Newly-appointed skipper Mahmudullah is looking forward to take the challenge though he said that he is well aware that they face stiff competition against their superior opponents.
‘’Because I am given the responsibilities, I will try to lead properly. If I say about inspiration, our national jersey is enough for that. There is nothing that can be more inspirational. We will try as a team to bring a good result,’’ said Mahmudullah.
‘’The statistics say that. They are unbeaten in last 11-12 series. This is going to be tough but nothing impossible. We have to play really good as a team. We have can assure that we can take all the chances and execute every opportunity. Then we can win,’’ he said.
‘’Our duty is to play at best for the country. We will try to do that. And I think everyone will take that as motivation,’’ he added.
