Zimbabwe cricket players are very grateful to Bangladesh Cricket Board for giving them the opportunity to play international cricket again, said skipper Hamilton Masakadza on Tuesday.


The ICC has banned Zimbabwe from participating in all form of ICC events in July after the sport highest governing body found irregularities in Zimbabwe cricket operation that includes government interference.

‘’Bangladesh has shown a lot of support to us we are very grateful to the Bangladesh Cricket Board that they have given us the opportunity to play cricket again,’’ Masakadza told reporters on Tuesday at Mirpur as they prepare for the upcoming tri-nation involving Afghanistan.

 “Important think is now we are playing and looking forward to get back to the field and playing again,’’ he said.


‘’Obviously there might new player but the standard of cricket they will be good we are very confident of the series,’’ he said.


The decision means ICC funding to Zimbabwe Cricket will be frozen and representative teams from the country will not be allowed to participate in any ICC events.


"The ICC has directed that the elected Zimbabwe Cricket Board be reinstated to office within three months, and progress in this respect will be considered again at the October board meeting," the ICC said in a statement.


"The ICC board heard from both the Sports and Recreation Committee representatives of the Zimbabwe government and Zimbabwe Cricket before making their decision."



"We do not take the decision to suspend a member lightly but we must keep our sport free from political interference," said ICC chairman Shashank Manohar.


"What has happened in Zimbabwe is a serious breach of the ICC constitution and we cannot allow it to continue unchecked.


"The ICC wants cricket to continue in Zimbabwe in accordance with the ICC constitution."
