Bangladesh skipper Shakib al Hasan defended his decision of demoting Mushfiqur Rahim at number six against Afghanistan considering it helped him to get some deserved rest as he was keeping.
The decision to demote Mushfiqur down the order was quite surprising considering he is said to be the best batsman against spin.
‘’Mushfiq did his best batting at 5th and 6th position. Either he or me bats at this position and that has been case for quite some time,’’ said Shakib adding that he does not have any problem with Mushfiqur out.

Rashid Khan had Mushfiqur Rahim caught by wicket-keeper Ibrahim Zadran for two ball-duck.
The video footage didn’t give any conclusive decision that if the ball hit the ground or his boot before touching his bat to go to wicket-keeper. Umpire however gave soft signal and third umpire retained it.
‘’Mushfiq batted in the upper wards before too. But a player can have a comfort zone, which I am sure, he prefers to be at 4 or 5 if he does keeping. It helps after keeping. You need rest after keeping for a long time,’’ he said. I have seen the same what you have seen also the umpire. And then umpire gave his decision. We don’t have anything do with it. What happens is, when umpires do not have any conclusive evidence on the field to over-turn, the decision then depends just on umpire’s decision. If he did not give that an out, then he would remain not out but he gave it an out because there was no conclusive evidence,’’ he said.
Shakib added that he is not too worried with the way Mominul, who was the only half-century, got out trying to play in an aggressive manner.
‘’Mominul was making runs the way he was batting. I won’t say, he should not have hit that ball, maybe he could execute it in a better way at least it could be four instead of a six, and it would be better in that way,’’ said Shakib.
