Afghanistan made a sedate start, much to the disappointment of Bangladesh but left-arm spinner Taijul Islam ensured his side would go into the lunch with happy mood.
He claimed 2-21 as Afghanistan reached 77-3 at lunch on the opening day of the one-off Test against Bangladesh on Thursday at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium.
Afghanistan made a patient start after winning the toss and opting to bat first but Taijul reaped the rewards of maintaining correct line and length to get the wicket of Ihsanullah Janat (9) whom he flummoxed with a googly.

By taking this wicket, he reached the feat of 100 Test scalps as the fastest Bangladeshi bowler.
As Ibrahim Zadran and Rahman Shah looked set in the crease, Taijul struck again to get the better of Zadran for 21.
Shah and Hasmatullah Shahidi however looked well set to take the side through lunch without any fuss.
But Mahmudullah on his first over removed Shahidi to ensure that Bangladesh would go to lunch, placing them at favourable position. Shahidi scored 14.
Rahmat Shah was batting on 31.
