West Indies hard hitter batsman Andre Russell has withdrawn himself from the T20 squad against India. Middle order batsman Jason Mohammad has replaced him in the squad for the two T20's against India.
Russell isn’t happy with his fitness from the start of Global T20 league. He also requested the selectors to remove his name from the series. For this selectors have given him rest for the two T20 matches.

Before this, West Indies Cricket Board announced the 14 men squad with Russell in their squad. He also passed the fitness test.
West Indies coach Floyed Reiffer said they are hopeful about Jason. According to him, Jason has done well in the domestic league and has some experience too.
“We welcome Jason Mohammed into the squad for the first two T20 matches here in Florida. He is a player with lots of experience in all three formats and – having done well for Trinidad & Tobago as well as Guyana Amazon Warriors,” said Reifer
The Caribbean coach believes someone like Russell can’t be replaced but Jason will do well and his performance will help West Indies to win against India.
“It’s difficult to fill the shoes of someone like Andre Russell, who has dominated T20 cricket all over the world – and won the ICC T20 World Cup for the West Indies on two occasions, but we believed Jason is capable of good performances and we back him to perform at this level and help us win games a well,” added Reifer.
