"MS Dhoni, an honorary lieutenant colonel in the Territoral Army, will serve in the Kashmir Valley from 31 July- August 15. He will be staying with the troops and performing patrolling and other duties," Said Aman Anand, spokesperson of Indian Army to ESPN Cricinfo.

Dhoni has taken two months leave from cricket and will take training like any other soldiers or jawans. Dhoni belongs to the Bangaluru Battalion which is currently in the Kashmir Valley.

Dhoni has some training to serve the Army too. In 2015, Dhoni became a qualified paratrooper after having completed five parachute training jumps from Indian Army aircraft at the Agra training camp.

In the absence of Dhoni, Risabh Pant is filling up his big shoes. He is called in Dhoni's place in the West Indies tour.
