Young Tigers suffer 35-run defeat to India

Bangladesh Under-19 team suffered a 35-run defeat to India in their second match of the Tri-nation Under-19 Tournament in England at Worcestershire on Wednesday.


Indian captain PK Garg's unbeaten 100 and Kartik Tyagi's 4-16 paved the way of victory for the youngsters of India.


India U-19 won the toss and elected to bat first. Opener YBK Jaiswal and NT Tilak Varma put up 37 runs in their opening stand. Mrittunjoy Chowdhury of Bangladesh picked up Tilak Varma and broke the partnership. But his partner Jaisal was going well at the other end, he constructed a partnership of 55 runs with PD Kanpillewar. Mrittunjoy Chowdhury once again broke the partnership by getting Kanpillewar out on 23. Jaisal finally got out scoring 63 from 90 balls. Rakibul Hasan picked up his wicket. SG Rawat dismissed early at one run bowled by Shamim Hossain.

The pick of the Indian batsmen was Indian skipper PK Garg. he scored a scintillating hundred from 97 balls and propelled India to a challenging total of 264. He put up a partnership of 66  runs with DC Jurel, who scored 34. Mrittunjoy Chowdhury was the pick of the bowlers for Bangladesh he picked up two wickets for 45 runs. Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Shamim Hossain and  Rakibul Hasan took one wicket each.


In reply, Bangladesh lost their first wicket at 14. Kartik Tyagi picked up Prantik Nawrose Nabil. Tyagi also picked up Mahmudul Hasan Joy. Opener Tanzid Hasan scored 44 runs from balls got out from the delivery of Hegde. Towhid Hridoy and Shahadat Hossain dismissed quickly at three and five runs respectively. Bangladesh U-19 captain Akbar Ali was the highest scorer for Bangladesh, scored 56 runs from 75 balls. Shamim Hossain and Akbar put up a partnership of 98 runs, the partnership broke when Shamim got out scoring 46 runs at 177.


Mrittunjoy Chowdhury tried to propel the innings, in the end, to get close to victory. He scored 33 runs from 27 balls. Tell enders Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Rakibul Hasan and Shoriful Islam couldnt contribute much they scored six, three and two respectively. At the end Bangladesh U-19 were all out at 229 runs with 17 balls to spare. Kartik Tyagi picked up four wickets for India,Hegde three, Ravi two and P Tyagi one.


Bangladesh U-19 lost against India U-19 but they started the tournament well. In their first match, they beat England U-19  by six wickets. Young Tigers will once again face India U-19 on July 27 in their next match.
