England wicket-keeper batsman Jos Buttler said he doesn't know how he could have played cricket ever again if he lost the World Cup final. England and New Zealand gave the World the greatest cricket World Cup final ever. Tied twice in 50 overs and in the super over, the winner was decided by the boundary count. Luckily for Buttler and England, it went into their favor. It was so intense that Buttler said that, it was so nerve-wracking that he was not sure that he will be able to continue his cricketing career if he lost the final.

'What was scaring me was if we lost, I didn't know how I'd play cricket again. This was such a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, a World Cup final at Lord's. It felt like destiny and I was thinking: "If it doesn't happen, I will have no motivation to pick up a cricket bat for a very long time" Buttler quoted to Daily Mail.

Buttler played eight finals before the World Cup final and lost seven of them including the T20 World Cup final in Kolkata. He didn't want to feel that pain and sorrow of losing the final again.

'I had played in eight finals before Sunday and lost seven of them. I'd played in lots with Somerset, the Champions Trophy with England and when we lost the T20 in Kolkata and I knew how much it hurt watching the other team lift the trophy. I didn't want to feel that pain and that regret again," Buttler added.

But amongst all this tension and fear of losing Buttler hold his nerve in the final. He scored 59 runs from 60 balls in the final, batted in the super over and hit the last ball for four which was crucial at the context of the game. More importantly, Buttler held his nerve at the very last ball of the match and ran out Martin Guptill to win the first-ever ODI World Cup for England.
