Australian David Warner said that he is not keen to use the IPL as a platform to stake a berth in the World Cup adding he is putting all his focus on doing well for Hyderabad.

"Personally for me the World Cup is not on my mind. We have to wait for selection. Here it's about going out there and doing well for Sunrisers Hyderabad, doing my best and scoring for my team," Warner told India Today. "Going into any tournament, the best practice is to play white-ball cricket and that's what I'm looking forward to."

"If I get selected [for the World Cup], I know this is the perfect lead up to any white-ball competition, irrespective of being a one-day format or a T20 format. So, going out there practising and playing the way I do and putting a 110 per cent in, that is my focus."

Warner is all set to make his IPL comeback and he will be the most scrutinised player when Sunrisers Hyderabad take on Kolkata Knight Riders in their season opener at the Eden Gardens on March 24.

Warner had to miss the entire 2018 IPL after he was banned for a year over his role in the ball-tampering scandal.

While David Warner and Steve Smith were banned for a year following the ball-tampering row, young Cameron Bancroft was left out for nine months. Warner and Smith were not allowed to play the IPL by BCCI but this year, both men are back and are hoping to make an impact for their respective sides.

Under David Warner, Sunrisers Hyderabad won the 2016 IPL. He was in spectacular form in 2017 before being forced to miss the 11th edition. This summer, the IPL holds more significance than usual for Warner and Smith. They are not involved in Australia's limited-overs series against Pakistan in the Middle East but they could well be considered for the World Cup.

It is therefore imperative that both David Warner and Steve Smith come up with impressive performances to sow the Australian selectors they are World Cup-ready.
