Gayle knocked ton with record-breaking ODIs sixes

Chris Gayle smashed 135 off 129 balls, with a new record of the most ODIs sixes, in the ongoing first ODI against England in Barbados on Thursday. Gayle surpassed Pakistan’s Shahid Afridi record of the most ODIs sixes. The Caribbean knocked his ton with 12 sixes and 3 fours.
The stats show Afridi hit 476 sixes in 524 matches while Gayle hit 488 sixes in his 444 ODIs and achieved the top spot of the list of most sixes. New Zealand’s Brendon Mccullum is in the third spot with 398 sixes, followed by Sanath Jayasuriya (352) and Rohit Sharma (349).
Gayle in his whole career hit 287 sixes in ODIs, 98 in Tests and 103 sixes in T20Is. He is the second-leading scorer in West Indies with 9727 runs with the highest number of ODI centuries after Brian Lara (10405 runs). His highest score in ODIs is 215 against Zimbabwe in the 2015 World Cup.

Meanwhile, the 39-year-old batsman, who has recently announced his retirement from ODIs after the upcoming World Cup in England, has been recalled especially for this ODI-series as preparation of World Cup. Gayle had last played for Windies last year July during a home series against Bangladesh. He will play the first two ODIs in this ongoing five-match series against England.
However, with the help of Gayle ton, West Indies posted 360 for 8 in the ongoing first ODI against England. The visitors yet to bat.
