There’s a high chance of Warner, following an elbow injury, getting back to batting by three to four weeks. He had his bone spur and loose bone removed which caused him inflammation and should be fit for selection soon. However, his ban is still on which would be concluded in a couple of months.
CA spokesman further enlighten the information through stating, ‘"David will undergo rehabilitation in which we expect him to be able to begin moving his arm by the end of the week, and within 3-4 weeks resume batting, with his return to playing to be determined soon after that.".

On the other hand Steven Smith, the former captain of Australia, whose elbow surgery caused him to be in arm brace for six weeks. Both of them share the similar issues which includes ban and elbow injury. In addition, both of them had to return to their homeland amidst the BPL tournament due to the injury. Besides, they are undergoing a 12-month ban from international and Australian domestic cricket for their roles in the ball-tampering incident which will conclude on March 28.
Warner is still likely to play ,the last two ODIs among five, against Pakistan in UAE which further makes him likely to be available for selection where as Smith’s swift recovering is still unclear and hence in jeopardy. Consequently, Warner is expected, being a part of Sunrisers Hyderabad, to feature in IPL in this March whereas Smith’s participation is still uncertain. Rajasthan Royals is inspecting for a replacement of Steven Smith.(in accordance with Mumbai Mirror)
In the meantime, the Head Coach of Australia ,Justin Langer, is monitoring the situation with close observation and had a talk with both of the players.
In his words, "I think Davey is going to get a clean-up, I don't think Davey's is as serious as Steve's was. That said, Steve is in a brace for the next 5-6 weeks I think.’’.
He further added, ‘"What we do know about them is, they haven't been good players, they've been great players for Australia. We are obviously monitoring them very closely and we are hopeful they will be getting themselves fit and strong and putting their name up for selection. It's an exciting time coming up,"
