Sylhet Sixers newly-appointed skipper Sohel Tanvir said that though they are not in an ideal situation, gaining momentum by winning match will be key in changing their fortune in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League.

Tanvir replace David Warner as Sixers skipper after the latter pulled out of the tournament as his elbow injury flared up that will require him to go under the knife.

Sixers are currently placed above bottom placed Khulna Titans in the tournament and they need to win at least three to four matches from their remaining five games.

Sixers take on giant killer Rajshahi Kings, who defeated star studded Dhaka Dynamites and Comilla Victorians in their last two games and looked to be on the roll with passing days.

‘’Yes we are not in the ideal situations at the moment, but we will try our level best to lift our spirit up, it's a matter of one or two games, you gain the momentum and you never know,’’ Tanvir told reporters after Sixers announced him as their captain for the remaining part of the tournament.

‘’In every tournament it comes on the last matches. So As I said we are not in the ideal situation and we will try to win the next couple of games and then you never know,’’ he said.

‘’As far as plan is concerned, as I said, we take one game at a time. Yes we have five games, at least we have to win three four games to alive our chances to make it to the play offs. I have spoken to the boys. If we can lose two thee games back to back, we can win two three games back to back as well,’’ he added.

Tanvir added that he won’t have any problem guiding the team as their leader but insisted they are going to miss Warner both as a captain and as a player in the remaining matches.

“Well I have done it (leading the team) so many times, done it for my local team back home in Pakistan, I have done it Canada league, so this is nothing new for me,’’ said Tanvir.

‘’Yes, we are gonna miss Warner not only as a batsman but he was a good leader. He was very energetic in the dugout as well. And he was leading from the front, he was scoring runs,’’ he said adding that they are looking forward to Jason Roy to do the job for them.

“We have Jason Roy while we have guys sitting on the bench. The problem is we have been playing good cricket, but we are not doing it all together,’’ he said.

“Sometimes we bat well while we don't field well or we don't bowl well. Some games we bowled well, but not batted well. If can do that all together, I think we have strong team,’’ he said
