Newly appointed ACC chairman Nazmul Hassan is mulling over more India-Pakistan matches during his tenure, despite the existing political crisis between these two countries.

Though the two sides regularly face each other in various competitions, no Test series has been played between arch-rivals India and Pakistan since 2007 and their last limited-overs series was held nearly six years ago, which is certainly not an ideal situation for the development of Asian cricket.

“I want cricket to be at its place. Pakistan-India game is still the most viewed match in world cricket. Considering that fact, we think they should play against each other. And at the same time, in order to develop cricket in Asia, there should be more cricket between these two countries,” Hassan said at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, on Sunday.

Hassan, as the ACC president, will have a big part to play in this regard and he is confident about the fact that there will be more India-Pakistan matches.

“To be honest, this is a big issue and I will have a discussion on this. I am confident that there will be matches played between them. Both the BCCI and its players want to play against Pakistan. But there are issues which the cricket boards cannot solve,” the ACC chief said.
