West Indies fast-bowler Shannon Gabriel has been suspended for the second Test against Bangladesh, beginning from November 30.
Gabriel was found guilty of breaching Article 2.12 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to “inappropriate physical contact with a player, player support personnel, umpire, match referee or any other person (including a spectator) during an international match”.

The bowler’s accumulated demerit points reached five within a 24-month period following his inappropriate and deliberate physical contact with Bangladesh opener Imrul Kayes on the first day of the opening Test.
As Gabriel had received a 50 per cent fine and three demerit points during the Jamaica Test against Pakistan in April 2017, with the addition of these two demerit points, he has reached the threshold of four demerit points, which, has now been converted into two suspension points.
As two suspension points equate to a ban from one Test or two ODIs or two T20Is, whatever comes first for the player or player support personnel, Gabriel has been suspended from the second Test, an ICC press release said.
Gabriel was the most successful bowler for West Indies in the first innings of the first Test, claiming 4-70, all of which came in a splendid spell just after the opening day’s tea session. He needed just 15 balls to rip through Bangladesh’s middle-order, completing his four-for.
