Bangladesh recovered from a precarious 25-4 to reach 78-4 on the fourth day of the second Test against Zimbabwe on Wednesday at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
In doing so, the hosts stretched their lead to 296 by the first interval of the day.
With 218 runs first innings lead, after shooting Zimbabwe out for 304, there was curiosity whether Bangladesh would enforce follow-on but they decided to bat again in a bid to bat Zimbabwe out completely from the game.

However the aspiration got a huge setback as fast bowlers Kyle Jarvis and Donald Tiripano were at their best in the morning session, leaving Bangladesh in a state of danger.
Jarvis swung the ball in admirable fashion to remove both openers Imrul Kyaes (3) and Liton Das (9) in three deliveries in the fifth over of the day.
Tiripano who shared the new ball in absence of injured Tendai Chatara was equally impressive and Mominul Haque (1) and Mushfiqur Rahim (7), the centurion and the double centurion of the first innings, perished to loose shots.
With Zimbabwe raising the hopes to hit back to the game, Mithun and Mahmudullah resisted further damage to keep the side on course of a sizeable lead.
The duo combined for a 53-run in an unbroken fifth wicket partnership, dealing with Jarvis and Tiripano’s swing with utmost confidence.
Mohammad Mithun was batting on 34 with skipper Mahmudullah on 24.
