Ehsan Mani has been elected as the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board [PCB], after being nominated to the Board of Governers by the country’s newly-elected Prime Minister, Imran Khan.
Khan is apparently the patron of the cricket board and reserves the right to nominate two candidates to the Board of Governors. He had also nominated Asad Ali Khan as the second candidate, but Mani triumphed without facing any opposition, like his predecessor—Najam Sethi.

PCB’s election commissioner, Justice Afzal Haider called for a special meeting to decide the new chairman. Accordingly, Mani was announced as the new Chairman after certain inspection of his documents.
Mani is a Chartered Accountant by profession, and has previously been a part of cricket’s governing bodies. He was elected as ICC’S Chairman in 2003. Prior to that, he had represented PCB in the ICC for seven years from 1989 to 1996.
Moreover, he played a role in PCB committee for the 1996 Cricket World Cup. For a period of six years, he headed as the Chairman of ICC’s finance and marketing committee from 1996 to 2002.
His appointment is a very important turn in the current state of proceedings for the PCB. It remains to be seen whether Mani successfully tackles the issues that have been surrounding the country’s cricket administration.
