With his stellar performance, James Anderson is currently leading the wicket-taking charts of the Test series between India and England. So far he has bagged 11 wickets in the series, seven of which came in the ongoing second Test, at Lord’s.
The 36-year-old has also completed his century of wickets at Lord’s to become the only bowler after Muttiah Muralitharan to have scalped hundred wickets at a single venue. The former Sri Lanka spinner achieved that feat in three different venues (Colombo, Kandy, and Galle).
Anderson took a fifer in the first innings of the second Test to bundle out India for a paltry 107. England then put up a fine batting display and declared their first innings after totaling a mammoth 396 for seven wickets. In the second innings, Anderson returned both of the India openers before rain interrupted play on day-4.

James Anderson currently stands fifth among the top wicket-takers in Tests. He reached 550 wickets after taking his first scalp in the second innings. The seamer needs 12 more wickets to reach the fourth position, which is currently occupied by Glen McGrath.
Meanwhile, Murali Vijay has become the sixth Indian opener to register a ‘pair’ in Test cricket, as Anderson dismissed him in both innings of the ongoing Test. The England seamer had handed a ‘king pair’ to former India opener Virender Sehwag on the same date in 2011.
India are still in danger of an innings defeat in this clash, especially with their skipper suffering a back injury.
