Afridi says NO to Bangladesh Premier League

It is actually astounding that he isn’t related to Shahid Afridi. Nevertheless, like his compatriot, he has the ability to be one of the most famous players in the world due to his talent. Shaheen Afridi is a pace bowler from Pakistan, who claims that he was approached by the Bangladesh Premier League.

He, however, refused to play in the league as he wanted to focus on the U19 World Cup instead. He chose to attend a camp prior to the World Cup for preparation purposes.

“I got a contract for the BPL and for the T10 league too but I didn’t go because I was attending the camp for preparing for the Under 19 World Cup,” Afridi said, quoted ICC.

The youngster did admit that it was disappointing for him to refuse the BPL and has hopes that he can make it to the tournament in the future.

“I was sad to not go but it’s my national duty. Next year hopefully I’m free and will be going,” Afridi added.

The left-handed pacer is in good form in the domestic circuit and took 8 wickets in his debut First-class game and cited Wasim Akram as his idol.

“I bowl like Wasim Akram,” he said. “When I was starting the game, I was watching Akram on video and taking tips. He’s a legend bowler for Pakistan.”

There is no doubt that the world will have another Afridi entertaining the fans should Shaheen continue his good form—after that, it only becomes a matter of time when the national selection comes up.
