The Tigers' Test & T20 skipper Shakib Al Hasan will be attending the Marylebone Cricket Club(MCC) World Cricket Committee meeting. It is the first time that a Bangladeshi will be participating in the MCC meeting. The meeting is scheduled to take place at the Lord's on 9th & 10th instant.

Shakib is thrilled to be a part of such incident. He has talked on this matter and the importance of some groundworks before the meeting in a press conference recently.

The 30-year-old reportedly said, “Yes, I am excited. It is indeed a great honour but it is also a responsibility. Previously there was no one to represent Bangladesh in these meetings. They [MCC] were not aware of the opportunities or the challenges we were facing. I think I will be able to share our side of things.

"I still haven’t taken it, but the preparations will be there. There are many reasons, there will be talks on the agendas. I know the agendas, we have discussed about it. I have to study on whatever will happen now. There is a matter of understanding here. Since there will be discussions regarding this issue, it won’t be appropriate to go without any preparation,"

“The agendas that will be discussed have already been announced for the two-day meeting," he added.

Shakib has confirmed that four-day Test is part of the agenda for the MCC meeting. He was excited and believes that it is a great honour to be part of the MCC committee. He has also spoken regarding the upcoming tri-nation series.

“Yes, of course. We believe we have a great opportunity. But since both teams are very good and they are aware of our abilities and the playing conditions in Bangladesh, it will be very competitive,"

About the recent change in captaincy and certain roles Shakib said, “We are not thinking too much about that. We are all well aware of our roles in the team,”

“If we can carry out our roles properly then we will be successful. Since we are captain and vice-captain, so naturally there will a bit more responsibility on us,” he added regarding his and Mahmudullah’s role.

Shakib Al Hasan has been a part of  the Kolkata Knight Riders since 2011. Recently KKR have decided not to retain the all-rounder for the next edition of IPL; hence, Shakib will be up for grabs in the IPL auction on 27th and 28th January. However, he does not seem to be concerned about this.

“There is nothing odd about this. My name will be at the players’ auction and if someone picks me then that’s great. If not then it does not matter a lot,” the all-rounder concluded.
