The tri-nation series involving Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe will start on 15th January in Bangladesh. The competition will be followed by a Test and a T20I series between the Tigers and Sri Lanka. Bangladeshi team will have no head coach with them in these events as they have not hired someone to succeed Chandika Hathurusingha yet.

Bangladesh Cricket Board(BCB) president Nazmul Hasan Papon is not concerned about the absence of a head coach. On the first day in 2018, he has exchanged well-wishes with the skippers of the national team: Mashrafe Bin Mortaza and Shakib Al Hasan.

Papon has alerted the two captains about their duties. For now, he wants to see them coaching the team. He reportedly said, "If you ask me who is going to be the coach of the team, I will say 'Shakib and Mashrafe'. We are relying on them,"

"We are leaving it up to them. They are confident. We had a meeting earlier. Tamim, Shakib, Mashrafe and Mushfiq were there. They are confident about managing it. So, we can assume that the players will work as the coach as well," he added.

Apart from being the manager of the Bangladeshi team, Khaled Mahmud has also become the technical director of the side. Assistant coach Richard Halsall will be seen at the dugout alongside him. According to Papon, Shakib and Mashrafe will be helping them.

"There will be a representative from the board. The current supporting staffs will be there along with Khaled Mahmud Sujon, he used to be the manager of this team."
