What if Rohit Sharma played for Bangladesh

What if the earth was not round? What if the beautiful game
of cricket was not invented at all? What if the great Don Bradman or Sachin
Tendulkar chose to play another game instead of cricket?
The fact is, human race is not concerned about anything
except for their existence itself. Wait! They are not even concerned about
their own survival as, according to experts, it is in great threat due to some of their own manufactured monsters.
Satisfying the clause of ‘what ifs’, we will now make you go through an utter nonsensical-yet-fascinating experience of what could have happened if Rohit Sharma played for Bangladesh.
#1 The Tigers would get a proper opening partner for Tamim
Tamim Iqbal Khan has been a regular opener for his country
for 10 years now. Taking care of the striking end, he has always faced the first
ball of the innings in all formats whenever he has been fit. But the team’s thirst
for a proper batsman that could attain the non-striking end has not ended yet.
Although Soumya has been a regular face in the team since
2015, his lack of consistency has made the team suffer at crucial moments.
If Rohit played for the Red & Green, who would start at the striking end? Now that is a matter of debate, but for this instant, we will just focus on the fact that he and Tamim would be perfect opening partners as their aggressive batting can decide the fate of the game anytime.
#2 Right-hand left-hand combo

Two batsmen playing in different directions have always been
a matter of headache for the bowler. During the initial batting powerplay, the
bowler and his captain will have to be busy deciding the fielders’ position as
the batters keep rotating the strike.
As the pacers open the innings for the bowling side, change in batting angle will create disruption for the bowler due to the constant pressure of changing the bowling line regularly. Be it Imrul Kayes or Soumya Sarkar, the companions of Tamim could not create much trouble as the bowlers remain comfortable with maintaining the same line for both the openers in most cases.
#3 An erratic environment for the talented
Bangladesh seem to be a little too hasty when it comes to launching
talents. As a result, the young talents tend to collapse facing the big names
on the ground.
Anamul Haque can be a great example of such occurrence. After having a great U19 World Cup campaign, he was definitely dreaming of getting a breakthrough into the Tigers’ squad. Had the authority been a little patient and allowed him to mature further by playing first class cricket and to improve his
batting techniques, he might have been an indispensable member of the squad now, albeit there are players who have met the expectations
despite an early debut.
Rohit Sharma had to wait for six long years to play for his
team’s Test side after his ODI debut. This gap made him more mature, unlike
Anamul, who had worn the all-white jersey right after his ODI unveiling. The
Bangladeshi scored a total of 14 runs in his first Test whereas Rohit hit a century in his very first innings.
If Rohit Sharma was a part of the Bangladeshi side, it is quite obvious that he would be pressurized to deliver in all format of the game at a tender age.
#4 Bangladesh would be the holder of 3 ODI double-centuries
The tigers have experienced only three double-tons in Test cricket from Mushfiqur, Tamim and Shakib. While the world have seen only seven double hundreds in ODI cricket, Rohit Sharma alone has scored three of them. Having the all-time best individual innings of 264 runs in ODIs, he would offer the Tigers some unthinkable feats.
#5 There would not be any uncouth clash between the two south Asian sides
Following a no-ball decision in 2015 ICC World Cup’s
quarter-final match, the internet went berserk as the Bangladeshi fans
continuously kept complaining about the unfair call.
Being the supporters of a side who had experienced their
fair share of glory throughout their cricketing spell, Indian fans too showed
no class while replying to the fans of their neighboring country’s cricket enthusiasts.
If Rohit played for Bangladesh, the online masses would not had experienced such an unhealthy clash, because Rohit was the one batting when the no-ball controversy happened.
