So finally the coach issue of Bangladesh National team has come down to this. Bangladesh Cricket Board were in search of a high-profile coach, when Gary Kirsten, one of the few shortlisted coaches, put two conditions before them.

Gary Kirsten has demanded a monthly wage of 50,000 dollars, which may eventually come down to 45,000 dollars as well. He also wants to coach the Tigers only during a series.

Previously Richard Pybus was interviewed and denied the place of the head coach.

BCB president Nazmul Hasan Papon reportedly said, “We have got a number of names who can be appointed as the coach. We have shortlisted some names from those.”

“We will select a head-coach from this list. The names of the persons on this list are uncertain right now.”

Following the criticism due to the bad performance of the team in the bilateral series against South Africa recently, Hathurusingha resigned as the head-coach.

Statistically, he is the best coach Bangladesh have had till date.

Bangladesh defeated teams like Pakistan, India and South Africa for the first time in ODI series under Chandika. They have also beaten Sri Lanka, England and Australia for the first time in their 17-year long journey of Test cricket.

Apart from reaching the semi-finals of ICC Champions Trophy, Bangladesh reached the quarter-finals of the ICC World Cup in 2015 as well. They also became the runners-up of the first ever Asia Cup in t20 format.

Under the Sri Lankan’s tenure, Bangladesh broke all of their previous records by winning five consecutive bilateral ODI series on their home ground.
