Soumya, Liton grabs spot in list of world prettiest batsman

Bangladesh top-order batsman Soumya Sarkar has been made into the list of the world's most eye-catching batsman and Liton Das has also been into a discussion by the senior editor of ESPNCricinfo.


Recently, the three senior editors of the popular cricket portal ESPNCricinfo compiled a list of the world's most eye-catching batsmen. Where along with Soumya and Liton there are New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson, India skipper Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Pakistan batsman Babar Azam and Sri Lankan batsman Kushal Mendis.


Alan Gardner, deputy editor of Cricinfo, said on Soumya Sarkar that he rarely saw him playing but when he does he made an impact in him. On the other hand, Karthik Krishnaswamy Senior sub-editor praised about Liton Das and made him into his list of prettiest batsmen of today.

"But one guy who I rarely see but always leaves an impression is Soumya Sarkar," Alan Gardner said. 


"Liton Das is the world's most beautiful batsman," said Kartik Krishnaswamy, senior assistant editor at Cricinfo.


Krishnaswamy cited the example of Liton's 94 off 69 balls against the West Indies in the 2019 England World Cup.


Meanwhile, apart from Soumya and Liton, famous cricketers from different countries were in the discussion. Indian skipper Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Lokesh Rahul, Glenn Maxwell and Marnus Labuschagne of Australia, Kane Williamson and Tom Latham of New Zealand, Joe Root, Moeen Ali, James Vince and Jos Butler of England, Shai Hope of West Indies, Sri Lanka's Kushal Mendis, Dhananjaya de Silva and Sadeera Samarawickrama and Pakistan's Babar Azam.



At the end of the discussion, Saumya has a place in the shortlist of six. Apart from these, the names of 90s cricketers like Australia's Mark Waugh and Damien Martin, West Indies batting great Brian Lara, India's VVS Laxman have also been discussed.
