Suspended Dhaka Division head coach Jahangir Alam ON Friday blamed skipper Nadif Chowdhury for not allowing a leg spinner in the playing XI that eventually made him paid the price.

Bangladesh Cricket Board suspended Jahangir for not allowing leg spinner Jubair Hossain to have a place in the playing XI against Rangpur Division at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram.

As a result BCB called Jahangir from the port city as his action clearly shows that it was an incident that is equal to defying rules and eventually was replaced by Mohammad Selim in the Dhaka dressing room.

BCB president Nazmul Hasan was clearly disturbed with the incident and replaced two Divisional team head coaches for not fielding a leg spinner in their playing eleven in the ongoing National Cricket League (NCL), country’s traditional first-class tournament.

Jahangir Alam and Masud Parvez Razon, who did not allow a leg spinner in the Rangpur team, was replaced by BCB and while the latter was not interested to pick his phone, Jahangir defended his action stating that he was not alone responsible for the entire saga related to playing a leg spinner.

“If the captain didn’t want to agree play any leg-spinner so I can’t force him. We have leg-spinner in the squad and he didn’t perform well that’s why the captain didn’t want to play him,” Jahangir told reporters on Friday.

Jahangir further added that he notified both the captain and the team management of the rules about the mandatory inclusion of a leg spinner in the playing eleven but they were reluctant to pay any heed.

‘’I told the captain to play leg-spinner but the captain didn’t want. I am not the only one, captain and manager didn’t want to play any leg-spinner that’s why I didn’t make any leg-spinner to play,” said Jahangir.

Jahangir also said that the decision is not in the first round but they told us in the second round. Before team selection I told them to play leg spinner but if the captain didn’t agree then I can’t force them to play.

“They didn’t tell us in the first round but they did tell us in the second round. In that case I told them to play leg-spinner before the squad selection. If they didn’t agree then I can’t force they to play. They have to agree first,” said Jahangir.

‘’I don’t want to talk about this right now. First I want to talk with BCB then I will tell. They excluded us before we met BCB. Captain, Vice-captain, team-manager and also me take the decision,’’ he said.

‘’They didn’t want to play leg-spinner in the eleven that’s why I didn’t play them,’’ he concluded.
