Bangladesh's former national opener Imrul Kayes said on Sunday that he is not losing his sleep to get back into the national dressing room.

Imrul, who plays for Khulna Division, scored unbeaten 202 runs against Rangpur Division to make a statement that it is not all over for the left-hander, who has been coming and going into the national side like the six seasons of the year.

The innings can be more noteworthy considering he had some tough times as he was busy with his sick son and was going to different hospitals in the last couple of months.

‘’It was hard. I was busy with family duties. It was really tough,’’ Imrul told reporters after the game at Khulna.

‘’Scoring runs makes me happy. I don’t want to get too worried about the teams anymore. I don’t want to think about it anymore,’’ he said.

‘’I used to think about it before. Now I don’t get worried of being dropped if I don’t make runs. I try to complete my responsibilities,’’ he said.

‘’Now I am more mature. Now I understand things more than before. I mean more mature with heart (decision making).

‘’I used to feel impatient before. But this innings was well assembled. Now I think like- I can get out from a good delivery but I won’t give up my wicket easily,’’ he said/

Imrul added that his son was attacked by Kawasaki disease that happens in blood veins.

‘’My son is sick now. After dengue, he was attacked with Kawasaki disease.  It is a different disease. It happens more in Malaysia. Also found in our country.

But the doctors sometimes give the wrong treatment. This a disease in the blood veins,’’ he said.

Regarding his goal Imrul said that he still have the desire to play in the national team but certainly not at the expense of losing his sleep.

‘’As long as I play, I will have that desire to play for the national team. I always had my bag ready. When I will realize that, I don’t want to play for the national team anymore, that day I will also stop playing the domestic league. There are many, who are not playing for the national team but continuing in domestic level. I am not one of them,’’ he said adding that it was hugely satisfying to score runs with the lower orders.

‘’After 90 runs- started with the number nine batsman and when Rubel got out, we had 160 on the board Then started with Al-Amin Hossain. All the fielders were outside (the circle). (then) I had to score with boundaries,’’ he said.

‘’In my ranking, this is second among the four-day matches. 150 innings against Pakistan- is on the top in my list,’’ he concluded.
