National selector Habibul Bashar said on Monday that they did not pick pacer Taskin Ahmed and all-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin in the squads of the National Cricket League because of their injuries.
Both Taskin and Saifuddin are recovering from their respective injuries and they failed to recover sufficiently to make a cut in the NCL squad.
‘’Both Taskin and Saifuddin are injured. Taskin is yet to start bowling and so we did not pick them in our squad for the opening round,’’ said Habibul adding that Saifuddin might not make it into the upcoming tour of India.

‘’There is a slim chance of Saifuddin’s playing in NCL. Today [Monday] he had a scan and it may take long time for him to recover. Even he may not play against India. When we will get his report, we can understand his situation better,’ he said.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board earlier declared the full itinerary of the 21st edition of NCL with the tournament will run till November 17 at nine different venues of the country.
Reigning champions Rajshahi Division will take on newly promoted Dhaka Division in Fatullah in the opening fixture of tier-1 while Rangpur Division will face Khulna Division in Khulna in the other tier-1 fixture.
In tier-2 matches, Barishal Division will face Sylhet Division in Rajshahi while Dhaka Metro will take on Chattogram Division in Mirpur.
The BCB also announced Walton as their title sponsor for next three editions of NCL.
