National Cricket League will get a major boost as senior national cricketers Tamim Iqbal, Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah are all set to feature in the forthcoming edition of traditional first-class tournament of the country after a long gap.
Tamim and Mahmudullah played in country’s top first-class tournament NCL last time in 2015 when they represented Chattogram and Dhaka divisions respectively while Mushfiq played one match for Rajshahi division in 2017.

Although Mushfiq and Mahmudullah played one and two matches respectively in the franchise-based first-class competition Bangladesh Cricket League last year their return to NCL was welcomed keeping the upcoming Test series against India in mind considering it will be a perfect platform for them to prepare them for the important series through which Tigers will open their account in Test Championship.
The forthcoming edition of NCL is expected to begin on October 7.
BCB’s tournament committee decided that those who will play only in the Test series in India will play in the first three rounds of NCL while the members of the Twenty20 squad will play in the opening two rounds.
Bangladesh will visit India in November to play three-match Twenty20 internationals and two Tests, with the tour starting with first Twenty20 on November 3 in Delhi.
Bangladesh’s senior players often show one or other excuse to skip NCL but according to team officials they are keen to take part in the four-day competition to get accustomed to red-ball cricket.
