Panna dropped from Women’s WT20 squad

Salma Khatun will lead Bangladesh Women’s team in the upcoming Women’s T20 World Cup qualifiers, slated to begin on August 31 as the Bangladesh Cricket Board announced the squad for the event on Sunday.


Bangladesh will play the opening match of the tournament against Papua New Guinea.


The two finalists of the eight-team tournament will qualify for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2020 in Australia.

Experienced medium pacer Panna Ghosh was dropped from the squad while Sobhana Mostary was included following her exploits in the A team’s recently-concluded series in South Africa. The team will play four practice matches in Netherlands to prepare for the tournament before travelling to Scotland on August 27. The Tigresses will then play a warm-up match against Netherlands on August 29 before the tournament begins.
