Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal had asked for rest during the upcoming one-off Test series against Afghanistan and the tri-nation involving Zimbabwe, said Bangladesh Cricket Board official on Saturday.
Tamim, who is going through a rough patch in recent past urged the BCB not to consider him for the upcoming assignment at home as he wished to take some rest during that period.

‘’We have received a letter from Tamim in this regard [taking rest during the upcoming home series]. We will take a decision about it after the Eid vacation,’’ said BCB cricket operation chairman Akram Khan on Saturday.
The request from Tamim came within weeks after he was advised to take some break from ace all-rounder Shakib al Hasan to regain his composure.
Tamim had a below-par outing in the just concluded three-match series against Sri Lanka where he accumulated only 21 runs following his equally unproductive World Cup, where he managed to score just one fifty and ended with 235 runs from eight innings at an average of 29.37.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh will host a tri-series involving Afghanistan and Zimbabwe from September 13-24 while the tournament will begin after the home team's lone Test match against Afghanistan, to be played between September 5 and 9 in Chittagong.
Zimbabwe, who were recently suspended by the International Cricket Council, will be making their first appearance in international cricket since the sanction was imposed on July 18.
