Former national manager Khaled Mahmud believe that his presence in the national set-up is not important and said that he had full confidence in current manager Khaled Mashud.
There were several allegations against Mahmud during his tenure at the national dressing room as many believed it was a matter of conflict of interest as he also holds several positions in the Bangladesh Cricket Board.
According to Mahmud, he will reconsider the position if it is offered again provided he can manage time to do the job. “I have no fixed job at Bangladesh team. When they call me, I go there. Now, Pilot is working with them, I think he is too motivated. He is the former captain of the country, good motivator,’’ said Mahmud.

“I have so many other works to do. I'm not permanent. I think who are now involved with them are experienced doing well. My presence isn’t important,’’ he said
“I do not know why I will not do it; truly I am busy now with my other works. Really I don’t have that time,’’ he said. Mahmud also said that he was happy with the way Bangladesh fought back in the second innings against New Zealand on the back of two brilliant century by Mahmudullah and Soumya Sarkar.
See, the new condition is always difficult. We know that batting isn’t easy in New Zealand conditions. Though wickets seem very easy, actually that is not. I think it is very good for us that we have been able to apply ourselves in the second innings,’’ said Mahmud.
“We have tried to stay on the wicket, to score run. And the big innings come from Soumya and Riyad. Though we have beaten by an innings, I will say we have learnt a lot of important things for the next two matches,’’ he said.
“But still, I will say that we had a lack of batting application in the first innings. If we could make this run in the first innings, it would make easier many things. The boys should keep it in their maid that the first innings in a Test match is always important,’’ he said.
“But I believe that the batting of the second innings proved our ability… we've tried to play well… there may be win or loss, but our process was good,’’ he added.
