Steve Smith , after returning from BPL that also amidst the tournament, had to undergo elbow surgery which puts him in doubt for the world cup following Australia’s final ODI series.
The surgery was conducted on this Monday and it , as per Sunday Morning Herald, was successful. However, it’s still mysterious about when he will return to the field. He’s going to have his right elbow in a brace for six weeks.

This is not all, he is required to undergo a lengthy rehabilitation period after the surgery around late February. It, probably, requires several more weeks for his reviving and regaining strength from muscle wastage though his one year ban wil conclude on 29 March.
Therefore, he’s going to miss the Australia’s final ODI series before the world cup against Pakistan. Moreover, the selectors have to undergo tough times in selection of this star batsman for the world cup.
Consequently, the selectors might have to analyze the selection process based on his past records and forms not through his recent performance which ,however, is going to be ruled out by the rehabilitation period.
