Bangladesh ODI captain Mashrafe Mortaza urged Mohammad Mithun to make the best use of his form and said that the wicketkeeper-batsman has brought balance to the team.
“He [Mithun] has made the team more balanced,” said Mashrafe. “If he plays like this and keeps batting positively then the team's balance will be fine. Now he has to understand this and maintain consistency. Because nobody knows what happens to the form tomorrow. So when he is in form, every day is important for him. Making a comeback is really difficult once you are out of form. So when he is in form he will have to make sure he retains it.”

The fast-bowler noticed Mithun when they were playing for Rangpur in the Bangladesh Premier League last year and talked with him about improving his batting. Mashrafe does regret the fact that he could not play Mithun at his preferred position and is happy that the batsman has proved himself when given the opportunity to play at the right position.
The Bangladesh skipper wanted Mithun to score make his innings bigger after scoring a fifty in the first match at the Asia Cup, thinking that it would boost his confidence. However, Mashrafe is happy that Mithun is still playing positively despite missing his chance to achieve a personal milestone.
He said: “When I played for Rangpur last year, watching him [Mithun] bat, I felt he was much more positive. I then discussed with him how his batting can be improved. Though I'm not a technical coach, I told him to consult with a good coach and be mentally prepared. Fortunately and unfortunately he got a chance in the team but we could not play him at the right position. This time we’ve played him at the right position. So, he is confident and is playing well at the moment.
“I told him in the first match [at the Asia Cup] that if he could have scored more than fifty, it would have been better for the team and for him. But till now he has played very well. It is very positive for the team.”
