Imrul and Liton should have been more careful, says Mashrafe

Conversion rate has long been a problem for the Bangladesh batsmen, no matter how experienced a member of the team one is. Most of the batters fail to make the innings bigger after belting a half-century. Although such tendency has not affected the team, reaching a milestone like a century does boost the confidence of any player.
At the same time, such instances also reflect that the batsmen who are donning the red and green jersey care little when it comes to achieving personal milestones and focus on the team’s success more.
However, the Tigers certainly need to have no room for carelessness once they contribute with a substantial innings. For example, if Liton Das and Imrul Kayes were more careful when they were within a touching distance of scoring a hundred in the second ODI against Zimbabwe – despite the fact that they had done their part, contributing two-third of the total – it would not only add a century to their names but also inspire the entire team.

According to Bangladesh skipper Mashrafe Mortaza, they might have done enough in the last match, but the way that got out could be considered as “crimes” at bigger stages.
He said: “It was discussed in the dressing room. Actually, this kind of opportunity does not come all the time. So the opportunities must be utilized.
“The way Imrul batted between 80 and 90 runs, he did not continue that and went on to play shots again. These adjustments are necessary. Both Liton and Imrul have realized it. They felt bad as well.
“If they were out against very good deliveries, it would be understandable. But the way both of them have been out, they might have realized their mistakes.
“I hope they don’t waste such opportunities in future. Most of the time, we are making mistakes, so we have to reduce them. These mistakes will be looked at as crimes on big occasions.”
