Nayeem Hasan recorded his cereer-best bowling figures in Chittagong Division’s Tier 2 clash against Dhaka Division in the National Cricket League, at Cox’s Bazar. The first day of the fourth round saw him claim an eight-wicket haul which helped Chittagong bundle out Dhaka for 288 runs.
After Shakhawat Hossain gave Chittagong a breakthrough by putting an end to an 82-run opening stand, Nayeem Hasan took charge of the bowling attack and ripped apart Dhaka’s batting lineup.
Opener Abul Mazid top-scored for Dhaka with a 72-run innings. Another opener contributed 41 runs to the total. Shuvagoto Hom and Nazmul Hossain Milon tried to bring things back in Dhaka’s favor by scoring 57 and 35 runs, respectively, before Shahadat Hossain (34) and Mahbubul Alam Anik (22*) lifted the total past 250 runs with a 56-run stand for the 9th wicket.

Despite a clinical bowling display, Chittagong have conceded enough runs and their revenge for the defeat against the same side in the first round will now depend on their batters who will have to pose a daunting total to keep the opponents under pressure.
