The tournament dates were agreed at the ICC Board meeting in Ahmedabad, with final approval expected at the ICC Annual General Meeting in Edinburgh next month.
South Africa is expected to host the majority of the 54 matches, while Zimbabwe will stage between eight and 10 games across Harare, Bulawayo and the new Victoria Falls venue. Namibia is set to host three matches.
The event will mark the first ODI World Cup in Africa since 2003 and will feature 14 teams, an increase from the 10-team format used in the last two editions. Teams will be split into two groups of seven, with the top three from each group advancing to the Super Six stage.
As host nations, South Africa and Zimbabwe will qualify automatically, while Namibia must still earn qualification.
The 2027 World Cup will also be the first ICC event under the new 2027-31 Future Tours Programme (FTP). Discussions on the next World Test Championship cycle, including possible expansion to all 12 Full Members, are ongoing, with a final decision expected at the ICC AGM in July.
