Former right-handed batsman Nazimuddin has included in Bangladesh Legends team for the upcoming Road Safety World Series as former all-rounder Aftab Ahmed has tested positive for Covid-19, who was previously in the 14-men squad.
Aftab was contacted corona just before leaving for India. As a result, the rest of the members departed without him on 27th February. Meanwhile, Bangladesh Legends have included Nazimuddin in the team as an alternative to Aftab. The Road Safety World Series will be played in Raipur, India from March 5.
Aftab confirmed to Cricfrenzy about the corona infection, “I tested the corona with everyone on the 25th. I have tested positive. Now I am in quarantine at home.”
On the other hand, 35 years old Nazimuddin will leave the country for India on February 2. He confirmed the matter to Crictfrenzy.
“In the beginning I was supposed to be in the main squad. But due to age limit, I, Nazmul (Nazmul Hossain Milon), Talha (Talha Jubayer) were left out. And Aftab Bhai got the opportunity because Sumon Bhai (Habibul Bashar) did not go. So I will go because he [Aftab] tested corona positive at the last moment. Tomorrow (March 2) I will go to Raipur via Kolkata” said Nazimuddin.
Apart from Bangladesh, former cricketers from India, West Indies, South Africa, England and Sri Lanka will be seen playing in the tournament.
