Team India have been playing against England in the Third Test in Ahmedabad which is also a day-night affair as well. However, India captain Virat Kohli is worried that the lights at the newly-built Stadium could affect the visibility and also shared that the players will need to adapt to the situation quickly. Notably, the stadium doesn’t have the traditional floodlight towers but a ring of LED lights are there on its roof.
"It is such an exciting atmosphere here at the largest cricket stadium. I’m a bit more worried about the lights than the colour of the seats," Virat Kohli said prior to the day/night Test against England. "When it gets lost with the lights at the back, it’s hard to spot the ball. We’ve played at a similar stadium at Dubai. It’s about angles, body positions. You need to adapt pretty quickly."
However, Dubai International Stadium has this kind of lights and last year's Indian Premier League in the UAE witnessed several drop catches by fielders because of the blinding lights as compared to the other stadiums in Abu Dhabi and Sharjah as well.
However, Virat Kohli also praised Ishant Sharma's efforts as he has been playing his 100th Test. "I have known Ishant for many years now," Kohli said in the press conference. "We were roommates for a long time for state cricket, in Ranji cricket circuit. Playing 100 Test matches as a fast bowler is no mean feat. Especially in the harsh sub-continent conditions it is difficult."
However, Team India successfully restricted their opponent within a below-par that too inside 50 overs. This came on the back of Axar Patel's six-wicket haul. Even the veteran spinner R Ashwin too claimed a three-wicket haul as well which helped them to do well.
