Team India have named the squad for the upcoming five-match T20I series against England which will be played after the final two Test matches in Ahmedabad. However, Mumbai Indians' star batsmen Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan have earned their maiden call up in the T20I squad as well after their stunning show in IPL 2020 and in the domestic circuit too.
Along with them, Rishabh Pant too has returned to the limited-overs format. Notably, he was dropped after his poor show with both the bat and keeping gloves during the Australia tour. However, he once again returned after performing well in the recently-concluded Australia series as well as against England.
On the other hand, Ishan Kishan has earned the call-up into the T20I squad on the same day he hit 173 runs in only 94 balls for Jharkhand against Madhya Pradesh in a Vijay Hazare match. However, as he earned a call-up, wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson hasn't made it to the squad. Alongside him, Suryakumar too has done well in the IPL 2020 and in the domestic circuit which helped him to earn the call-up.
Meanwhile, Rahul Tewatia, who stole the limelight when he scored a match-winning knock for Rajasthan Royals last year in the IPL, has earned a maiden call in the team. Alongside him, Varun Chakravarthy, who earlier named in the T20 squad for Australia, but ruled out due to shoulder injury, has also been added to the T20I squad as well.
Meanwhile, Indian pace bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who was earlier out of action due to injury, has returned to the squad. However, another pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah wouldn't be available for the series as well.
