Bangladesh former spinner Abdur Razzak and opener batsman Shahriar Nafees are officially announcing their retirement from all forms of cricket on February 13.
Abdur Razzak has been named as the third selector of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). At the same time, Nafees is getting an important position in the Cricket Operations Committee of the BCB. He is ending his playing career before taking over the administrative responsibilities of the BCB.
The Cricketers' Welfare Association of Bangladesh, an organization of cricketers, confirmed in a press release on Friday that the two had retired.
Regarding retirement, Razzak told to Cricfrenzy, 'I will probably retire tomorrow. It is the rule of the cricket board to retire before taking any responsibility.’
Razzak is the only bowler in Bangladesh to take 600 wickets in first-class cricket. He bagged 634 wickets in total in his career. In 153 ODIs he has taken 207 wickets for the national team. He took 28 wickets in 13 Tests and 44 wickets in 34 Twenty20 matches.
Besides, Nafees has scored 1,267 runs in 24 Tests. He has 2,201 runs at an average of 31.44 in 75 ODIs.
