International Cricket Council announced the three series in 'Men's Cricket World Cup League-2' have been postponed. ICC wants to hold the series at a later time, mainly due to travel restrictions and quarantine policy, mainly due to the coronavirus.
Oman's series against the United States of America and Nepal was scheduled for March 19-26 has been postponed because of corona pandemic. The Oman and Scotland series against Papua New Guinea was scheduled for April 14-24. These series have been postponed by the governing body of world cricket.
"The postponements are due to the current travel restrictions between countries, the quarantine time required before matches and the recent surge in Covid-19 cases," the governing body said in a release on Friday (February 12).
"As part of the ICC's comprehensive contingency planning process across all ICC events and after consultation with Members and with the relevant government and public health authorities, the decision has been taken to postpone all three series."
Chris Tetley, the ICC's head of event management, said he was determined to hold the postponed series as soon as possible. He also said that he was working actively with the member of countries to set a suitable time.
"We are actively working with Members to identify suitable windows to reschedule the three series. We are likely to face more challenges over the coming months but will continue to try and maximize the opportunity for Members to qualify on the field of play."
Oman tops the 2023 World Cup qualifiers. The country has already collected 16 points in 10 matches. The United States is after them with 12 points. Scotland, Namibia and the United Arab Emirates are in the third, fourth and fifth place respectively.
