Mehidy Hasan Miraz, promising spin bowling all-rounder of the Bangladesh National team is eyeing to regain his fitness for competitive cricket.
Cricket was suspended for about four months due to the deadly coronavirus pandemic that forced cricketers to be remained at home like other people in the country to stay safe and sound from the effects of the COVID-19.
International cricket made its much-needed return to the pitch through the Test series between England and West Indies after a four-month lengthy break.
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has also provided their four designated venues across the country for the national cricketers to restart their individual practices following the guidelines of the BCB’s medical team and its national team therapist Julian Calefato.
Miraz, who has been doing his running and gym session at Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium (SANS) in Khulna, expressed his joy about returning to the ground and doing his training again after being sat idle for months at home quarantine.
The current goal is to remain fit for going into the next level of skill training, the 22-year-old all-rounder said, adding that cricket in Bangladesh will mark its return to the pitch very soon.
“Alhamdulillah, I got such an opportunity for having practice on the field after many days. And I think the current situation of the crisis will be overcome very soon,” said Mehidy Hasan Miraz.
“And I’m currently working on fitness because I was sitting at home for the last three months. I couldn’t do anything more. Now it’s a very good opportunity. That’s why I’m trying to maintain my fitness as much as possible. Running, gym, doing as much as I can by using the field,” Miraz said in a video message provided by BCB.
“Inshallah, cricket will return very soon and hope that the matches will start very soon as well,” he concluded.
