Bangladesh Cricket Board's media committee chairman Jalal Yunus said on Sunday that they are going to give relief food to the 20,000 underprivileged people who are largely affected due to the coronavirus pandemic.

"With the fund of the Cricket Board, we are trying to help the public. In the meantime, we have been thinking that we will pack around 20,000 food and distribute it in the places where the coronavirus has impacted the most. This distribution will go on throughout the month, it may start within a few days,’’ Jalal told reporters on Sunday.

BCB earlier gave one-time monetary support to the non-contracted players of DPL. BCB also gave one-time monetary assistance to both contractual and non-contractual women cricketers. BCB President Nazmul Hassan Papon said that they will grant one month’s wage for the groundsmen also.

Now BCB has decided to come forward to support the wheelchair cricketers. Chairman of media committee Jalal Yunus said that they have discussed with the President of Board Nazmul Hassan and decided to give monetary support to the wheelchair cricket associations also.

"We have given monetary support to the wheelchair cricket associations also. They appealed to us. They belong to a very poor family, having a lot of trouble. We are also trying to help them, our president made this decision after consulting with the directors,’’ Jalal concluded.
