Left-arm pace bowler Mustafizur Rahman said on Monday that he is eyeing to be consistent with his bowling.
Mustafizur, whose performance was severely criticized earlier, finally discovered his midas touch against Sylhet Thunders as he led the bowling attack superbly after his captain Shane Watson sent Sylhet in batting.
Mustafizur finished with 3-10 in four overs to help his side restrict Sylhet to 133-9 that was eventually toppled by his side Rangpur Rangers as they raced to victory in just 17.2 overs that kept their hopes in the play off still alive.
I am bowling well and I am just trying to bowl well,’’ said Mustafizur.
‘’But doing well in only two matches won’t help much as I need to perform on consistent basis,’’ he said.
‘’The only thing that I can do is trying and I am totally focused on that [trying],’’ he said
Earlier, Mustafizur stifled Sylhet for runs when his other colleagues were not so up to the mark.
The Fizz, as he is adorably called, checked the flamboyance of Sylhet batsmen to create pressure which gave the other bowlers an advantage to claim wicket.
Mustafizur then later dazzled with cherry again during the death overs to dismiss Sylhet any hope of making a reasonable total.
From 2018 to 2019, Mustafizur’s economy rate have increased drastically both in Test and one-day format while in T20Is, it has reduced by one run but the number still remained at 8.80 (from 9.83). And in Test matches, Mustafizur’s economy increased to 5.29 from 2.85 and in one-day his economy rate increased 2.27, as he now has economy rate of 6.77.
Mustafizur lack of ability to produce lethal spells has not gone unnoticed by the national team management but now they will be much relieved as he regaining his form with passing days.
‘’There is no doubt that he is a special bowler but all he needed was to bowl few good spells to get back the confidence,’’ said a selector.
I am sure through the recent performance he had got back the much-required confidence and in the coming days he will bowl even better taking those confidence in the upcoming matches,’’ he opined.
